The Flop Eared Mule - for Advanced String Quartet
This much loved fiddle tune is arranged here for advanced string quartet (2 violins, viola and cello). The first half is fairly straightforward, stating the tune in the familiar version, with the more advanced passages coming in the second half of the piece, with lots of folk-style double stopping and melodic interest appearing in all parts. This arrangement would suit string players who are ABRSM Grade 5 or 6+ and beyond. There is enough interest within each part to still be a fun play for all higher level string players (even those far beyond ABRSM Grade 6 level!)

Listen to this arrangement (N.B. The first part is a purposefully simple statement of the tune. The trickier, more advanced sections happens from approx 47 seconds onwards!)
